The Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) is a similarity-based statistical tool that scores and classifies one or more sequences by aligning them. It has a wide range of uses in the field of bioinformatics. Thanks to its powerful properties, it produces very useful results on biological sequences such as DNA and protein sequences. BLASTn for DNA sequences, BLASTp for protein sequences, and BLASTx packages for cross-queries between amino acid sequences by converting the nucleotide sequence to amino acid sequence [1].
